Ixworth at National Finals

At Ixworth we play according to the rules of the English Bowling Federation (EBF); this code of the game of bowls is popular in the eastern counties of England.  We are also affiliated to Suffolk County Bowls Association, which covers Federation bowling in Suffolk. The rules of EBF are slightly different from Bowls England (formally known as EBA), the main ones are that to count a bowl must be within 2m of the jack, and any bowl in the ditch is counted as dead (no chalking in this game)  EBF is very much a drawing game - in most competitions only two bowls are used, while the Bowls England game is more tactical, with a wider range of shots being used.

Several of our players, both male and female have gained honours at County and National level winning singles, pairs and triples titles, and the club is well represented in county and other representative teams.

In 2007 we celebrated our centenary and had the honour of presenting Suffolk County Bowls Association (SCBA) with a cup named after our first ever President [Dr. J. S. Gelston] for their new  Senior Pairs competition..

The next 2 Saturday morning FAMILY SESSIONS will be    July 9th and July 30th - 10.30 start.
