Stowmarket & District Leagues and Competitions
Monday League Div 2 After the relegation of 2017, it was important to consolidate our position in the Second Division. Although we lost some players who were regulars in Division 2 last year, we dis manage ton retain our status under the captaincy of Mark James. We lost more than we won, but managed to avoid the dreaded drop. The standard of this league is very high and those teams who are relegated are usually promoted the season following, making the division are hard one to compete in for a relatively inexperienced side.
Tuesday Afternoon League Div 3 After the relegation of last year it was important to get some good wins under our belt and hold a good position in the table. As in the Bury Afternoon League, many of the teams feature some of the more experienced players in the league, while our philosophy has been that these leagues are a good platform for the less experienced player.
Matthew Smith and Mark James reached the final of the Mens Pairs competition losing in the final to a pairing from Borough of Eye BC, but Matthew went on to win the Mens Singles against Paul Gladwell from Woodfield BC.
Area D Triples League Div 1
This league which is played on two rinks at home and two rinks away was won by the club in 2017, and while in the years since we have not been in contention for the title, our position in Division 1 has never been in doubt. It is a very competitive league and gives great experience for both new and old bowlers.
