The club has received funding from Local Councillor Joan Spicer, who used some of her ‘local project’ money to help the club purchase some sets of Junior bowls. The picture on the left shows her presenting a cheque for £500 to Club Treasurer Paul Cook ably assisted by members of the Priory Scout group.  Other members can be seen holding the bowls.

Four County Titles for Ixworth BC

Paul and John Senior Pairs Winners

Paul Veterans Singles Winner

Matthew Champion of Champions Winner

Ann who started it all by winning the Ladies Champion of Champions

What an amazing July for the Club.  It all started in the County Semi-final of the Ladies Champion of Champions, when Ann Lilley fought back from what seemed like an impossible position to get to the final; where another come back showing great determination saw her win the title. An amazing feat of concentration and determination.  The men still had the Area Finals to contend with and we were through in nine semi-finals.  Some good bowling saw us win all nine and then we won seven of the nine to go forward to the County Finals.  Of those that got this far Matthew couldn’t get the better of his opponent, while Ann with husband Terry lost in the Semi-Final of the Senior Mixed Pairs and Mark lost in the Semi final of the 4 Bowl Singles; both to the eventual winners.  This meant that Ixworth were represented in four of the fourteen finals, an achievement in itself. Unfortunately Mark and Matthew lost the Final of the Men’s Pairs in a very close encounter, while in even closer games Paul won for the second year in succession the Veterans Singles and with partner John won the Senior Pairs after an extra end.  In the final of the Champion of Champions some excellent bowling from Matthew gave him a comfortable victory.
